NaPoWriMo Day 14 - Masks

Masks

They say misery loves company,
but what kind of company would it be?
Like a hangover without drinking,
the clean up without the party,
miserable company does nothing,
nothing to offset the misery.
Make it a masquerade, hide away
fear, uncertainty, if the sun disappears,
then shine an artificial light, call it dawn.
Wear the mask of merriment, joy,
show the painted smile to the world,
eventually the mask won't be needed.
